  • Where are you located?

    Wilderness Hunting Lodge is located in the beautiful scenic foothills of the Cumberland Mountains in Tennessee. GPS: Lat: 36 14′ 04″ N, Long: 85 13′ 30″ W

  • What items should I pack to bring to the Lodge?

    The following list is a suggested packing list:

     

    Orange hat and vest

    Bottled water

    Coolers for meat processing (can be purchased onsite also)

    Additional beverages and snacks

    Weapons and ammo

    Broadhead target

    Fishing gear

    Hiking boots

    Rain gear

    Poker chips/deck of cards

    Additional pair of shoes for inside wear in lodges

  • What items are provided by the Lodge?

    The Lodge provides the following:


    Towels/Bed Linens/Pillows

    Meals and drinks

    Hunting license

    Guides

    Stands and blinds

  • What weapons and ammo are suggested/allowed at the Lodge?

    The following is a list of weapons and ammo for hunting at our facility:


    All centerfire caliber weapons are legal for use in Tennessee

    Smallest recommended caliber is a .223 with 62 grain plus ammor

    AR platform rifles are legal

    Scopes recommended

    There are no restrictions on clip capacity

    No buckshot or armor piercing rounds allowed

    Shotguns and slugs are allowed

    For Bow Hunting:


    Mechanical heads are allowed

    Fixed blades are recommended

    Pull weight of 45 pounds recommended for Boar Hunting

    Traditional archery welcome

    Recommended Weapons for Certain Species:

     


    Turkey hunting – #4, #5, #6 shot full choke

    Elk .30 caliber or larger (several other calibers will work; this is just the recommended caliber)

    Bison & Water Buffalo – .375 H&H

  • Do you offer airport pickup?

    Yes, for the cost of the driver and fuel. Call for pricing.

  • Can I spend the night at the lodge?

    Yes, our packages included three nights lodging.

  • What methods of hunting do you provide?

    We have ground blinds, spot/stalk, and bay dogs on trophy boar.

  • Is a license required?

    No, it is included in the daily fee.

  • Do you allow bow hunters and/or cross bow hunters?

    Yes, many of our hunters enjoy the challenge of bow hunting at Wilderness. We have everything you need to bow hunt from tree stands to blinds our hunters enjoy the excitement and challenge of bow hunting at Wilderness.

  • What weapons do you allow?

    We allow bow, crossbow, rifle, shotgun, pistol, and muzzle loader.

  • What are your seasons to hunt?

    We are allowed to hunt the non-native year round.

  • What if I do not get a shot?

    You only pay the harvest fee when you shoot and hit the animal. If you do not get a shot the only thing you pay is your deposit or non hunter fee.

  • Are kids allowed?

    Yes, we encourage you to bring your children to participate. We always stress safety, hunting ethics, and protection of our natural resources. There’s nothing like involving the family in your favorite sport.

  • How big is the area we will be hunting?

    The preserve has three hunting areas: 1100+ acres, 400+ acres, and 900+ acres. The areas are mountainous with some valleys and fields. In 2011 we added a new 1000+ acres especially for wild boar, rams, and buffalo.

  • Who cleans the game I shoot?

    Our professional staff takes care of the game for you.

  • What about taxidermy?

    Included in your daily fee we will cape the animal out (extra fee for extremely large game like Buffalo). We will get it ready for you to take to your favorite taxidermist.

  • May I bring non hunters/observers?

    Yes, and all they have to do is pay the non-hunter fee which covers their meals and lodging.
